Yeah, the AA series has a LOT of regressive portrayals of gender roles, a lot of sexism and jokes that have aged poorly as “haha, they’re GNC” has become less of a socially acceptable punchline.

Unfortunately at the time– and still to this day in a lot of contexts-– the way that the game frames these things, like women being in charge of men as something funny or sexual, IS normal. It portrays it in a way that’s normal for society to portray.

Which isn’t a good or progressive thing.

But yeah, almost always when someone in the Ace Attorney universe is presented as queer coded or acting outside of their expected gender role, it’s treated as a joke or a failure on their part.
