i honestly dont care about people being ‘free to write whatever they want’ if something bothers me i’m gonna talk about it. the massive flood of incest, rape and pedophilia fics ive seen under the leon tag is genuinely revolting and i’m glad i’ll never understand the mindset people have to not only write shit like that, but then post it publicly… seeing people write about leon as if he’s some filthy man with twisted desires, as someone who would fuck his daughter or rape his partner, it’s honestly so warped and idgaf about the fact he’s not real, the fact is people who write this are twisted and need to find a different way of dealing with their equally twisted fantasies. you’re telling me you *want* to fantasise about your favourite character assaulting you? don’t make me laugh
Hi friend, a few notes that might help you!
First of all, I’d like to clarify that I neither read nor write Leon x reader fic (or any other x reader fic). I actually have all the resident x reader tags filtered on youtube because they squick me out!
However, since the people who have been discussing these Leon fics have not been tagging their discussion of them, I have been seeing this discussion and decided to learn about the situation.
I want to say first that another person being free to write whatever they want is absolutely true! But you are also equally allowed to feel however you want about that writing, and it’s totally okay for you to be uncomfortable and upset by it. As long as you’re not actively trying to censor or shutdown someone else’s freedom of expression, it’s totally okay to find it icky!
Next, I do want to address your feelings about people’s “Warped desires”. The truth is that psychologically, it’s very normal for human beings (especially women, there have been studies on this) to have dark fantasies like rape, and incest. Incest, in fact, is one of the top searches on typical porn websites! It’s very normal for people’s fears and taboos and sexual thoughts to be intertwined!
You mention Leon not being real and that is true! A fictional space that is not real is the best medium for people who have dark fantasies to express them! In fiction, the writer is always in control, and the reader is always capable of putting the story down. Both the writer and reader are always consenting, and no one real is harmed in fiction, so it is a safe place to express and work through dark or unpleasant desires or ideas.
I’d also like to briefly touch on the fact that not everyone who writes and reads fiction– even x reader fiction!– is doing it because they want those things to happen to them in real life! Second person fiction is also a great medium to express horror and disgust– there is a great old tradition of “choose your own adventure novels” many of which are very horrific!
Additionally, this “flood” of content, as far as I can tell is only actually from one or two blogs! It seems to me that the simplest way to solve your problem and avoid this fiction all together would be to block the blogs that are posting it.
And that way you can scroll in peace without being disturbed by it!
In any case, I hope I broadened your understanding of the situation a little and you have a wonderful day! Peace and good vibes!
