Why are people trying to defend r@pe, incest, and all that fucked up shit people been writing under the Leon tag? Why are y’all getting mad when people call you out on your disgusting writing? It’s so weird that this is seen as a “coping mechanism” when it’s really not. I am a victim of SA and I would never write shit like that, get some actual help, talk to someone. Idc what anyone says but fiction does affect reality.
Hi, friend. I’m sorry to see that you’re frustrated and upset right now. I’d like to help you if I can.
There are lots of survivors of trauma and sexual abuse out there, and everyone copes with that experience differently.
Using fiction to explore and cope with and interact with the subject of your trauma– whether reading that fiction or writing it– is a well recognized and accepted therapeutic technique.
Fiction lets us explore dark and painful topics in a safe setting, because it is not real, and is removed from us.
Unlike a real trauma, fiction gives us the power in a dark situation.
A writer is always empowered to create the scene or story that they are comfortable with. No one can violate them through their fiction, they are always in control.
Likewise, when we are reading fiction, we are always in control, and always hold the power of consent. If something in a piece of fiction goes too far for us to be comfortable with, we can always click away and stop reading.
Survivors who want to stay away from fiction that’s similar to their trauma, and survivors who use fiction that’s similar to their trauma to cope are a case of competing access needs.
Luckily, survivors who want to stay away from fiction that is similar to their trauma are empowered to do that, by blocking, scrolling away, using filters, etc.
Here are some more posts of mine that might help you understand people’s relationship to dark fiction.
