there are so many fun m/f pairings that I like, but the fandom emphasis on them settling down and getting married and having babies makes me nauseous and upset so I just mostly stick to slash pairings instead when it comes to enjoying other people’s fan work.
Weirdly enough, i find slash pairings where they have kids more bearable. Maybe it’s just that the fic I’ve read is better written. Idk
I find slash with kids a little more bearable as well because there’s not the emphasis on pregnancy and *ugh, ick, puke* motherhood.
plus m/f fanfic has this gross tendency to do the same thing to female characters that real life does to woman– decide that now that they’re married and having a baby, their whole life is devoted to bEiNg a MoThEr even when said female character was an action hero, villainess, or corporate girlboss.
And I cannot stress enough how literally physically ill it makes me.
