I’m someone who occasionally simps for villains and anti-heroes who are on the more morally questionable side, but my god, why do antis insist on policing people in who they get to simp for? No one tries to fall in love with Albert Wesker, it just happens. That’s how attraction works. It’s not like we got on and off switches that tell us, “hey, look at this hottie, let’s get a boner!,” because that’s not how attraction works. About that anti. I personally am a proshipper I have never watched the show Rick and Morty and normally don’t ship underage ships. But I absolutely ADORE ships that have a huge age gap, at least 5-10 years if possible. So some OTP’s of mine would have counted as underage ships at one point surely. I also am roughly the age of that anti, and while I know that fiction and reality don’t mash up, I now can’t help but feel a bit bad about myself. I did not read their complete post for my mental health, but it seemed very well structured and by how it looks like they even included sources… I’m just somewhat worried that maybe I’m in the wrong after all?

That anon and myself having people use us as a way to attack others. 🤝 Though in my case, it was to attack the oh so loved to hate Ciel x Sebastian, though in my case it was a very healthy relationship by happenstance and was my actual relationship with him, so it was very awkward. As a fictive of a popular character from a popular media, unfortunately, filtering and avoiding that media doesn’t help me avoid it a lot of times. I still see it in places often, especially the pairing involving my source that triggers me. It really sucks (though it has worked over time as a sort of desensitization, at least?) So, I get why other fictives are upset about seeing content of their source that’s triggering to them, but I’ll never understand the sense of entitlement some fictives (it’s always antis in the cases of it I’ve seen, I’ve noticed. There’s possibly a correlation there) have where they think being a fictive gives them the right to shame and guilt trip strangers into not making that content at all. I’d never demand the fandom for my source stop making the content that makes them happy just because it triggers me. I could ask people who don’t tag it properly to tag it, but for me, because of the fandom’s size, that would be fighting an uphill battle and it’s easier to just block those that avoid all my filters, even if the person who didn’t tag properly would be willing to edit their post’s tags. But the idea of guilt tripping them? Of being like: “hey, this is a trigger for me and you creating content of it makes you a bad person who is hurting me, a fictive of your favorite character!” That’s just… it feels so intentionally malicious and cruel, and I really try to be understanding of these fictives, I do, but it’s just so… I can’t put it into words. Feel free to call it out if I’m being out of line here. It’s just that with how often I see these incidents happen with fictives who are antis, and given antis usual behavior, it does feel like a sort of calculated malicious emotional manipulation and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I’m a pro shipper, but I realized something that makes me feel really stupid. I let fiction affect the way I act in real life in not-so-great ways. i played a lot of dating sims, and I let it brainwash me into thinking that I could make someone fall in love with me if I just built the right skills and said the right things. But now I realized that’s not true, and I have no control over who does and doesn’t fall in love with me. Am I proving the antis right? Or am I just dumb?

My 11 year old sister ranted about ‘proshipping’ and how she hates it so much then said that proshippinh are ships with adult X child and family memberstogether. I asked her where she heard proship from and it was by a classmate who jumped into a conversation he overheard with shipping & explained it to her… Because he heard it on tiktok. I had to sit her down and explain proship/proshipper, what it means and that in future to always look up the meaning if you don’t know the word or ask someone you trust especially when you feel so strongly about it. I also let her know to be careful with people who focus on hating people for their ships rather than talking about the ones they like as it focuses on hate rather than what they enjoy. I’m so saddened about it since She enjoys watching South park and also shipping characters from my hero academia and danganronpa. I don’t want her to be hurt by classmates because she watches or ships things that are ‘problematic’ according to some tiktoker Sorry this was so long, – 🖤🩷 T.H.

I hope its alright to ramble about fandom happenings here… I just wanted to share some sad but hilarious anti nonsense I’ve been witnessing, and maybe ask for some advice… This yandere writing blog started in the fanbase after the OP had posted some stuff on their blog. (To which multiple people loved and reblogged) And soon after making the yandere blog people (Full grown adults mind you! Some were even moderators in the most popular spaces!) Started vaguing them. The kicker is that they were under the notes of the post liking it. And all the blogs asks? Anons. OP sadly went ghost and last they said was they were taking a mental health hiatus. It haunts me partially for how they were destroyed so quickly for something they could’ve just blocked and ignored. This wasn’t like OP was posting it to the main servers or not tagging yandere aspects. The yandere blog itself never even posted in the main tags! (This part mentions NSFW) The second situation was someone on AO3 wrote this really great fic everyone on the NSFW side loved. Then they came out with a noncon fic. Completely tagged, wasn’t promoted, it just existed. And then suddenly I see “Guys I found out who wrote… THAT fic.” And adults in the replies gossiping like teenagers! “I’ll DM you who” “OMG dm me” it made me feel sick. They even mentioned how this person was “proshippers dni”. It made me feel horrible for them. (NSFW mention end) This fanbase is incredibly small, but really tight knit. It horrorifies me one minor slip up on my behalf can undo any progress I had and send tidal waves. (I was already stalked before during a brief period I blocked someone who was mad at me. But Antis don’t seem to care about that and a fictional characters safety is more important?) I really don’t know what to do. I feel paranoid! I love this series deeply, it sparks alot of joy. Ship discourse isn’t even brought up that often but I still feel like I’m on eggshells. To anyone whose had this experience, any recommendations? Advice? Thank you for listening to my woes… sorry for the long ramble. I would sign this off with my pro blog but feel antsy.
