Thanks for fightin’ the good fight over in the Resident Evil tags. I’m an older fan of the series and watching the tags get overrun by screaming puriteen children has been. Sure a thing. Nice to see some folks out here with their heads screwed on correctly and the ability to understand fiction vs reality. <3

Seriously, what’s the deal with the rising purity culture in fandom spaces??? Like, it’s not a RE exclusive problem, it’s EVERYWHERE, practically in ever fandom I’m in lately. Even when the franchise is explicitly a dark one, people still make such a big deal out of dark fiction. I am not even that old (22), and yet I know dark fiction was always a big part of fandom culture??? People write and draw fucked up things. Fucking mlp dark fics were my bread and butter in my teen years. It’s gotten so bad, you can’t even create stuff with all the tags and warnings in place. Like, Jesus Christ, if the person tags their shit appropriately, why are you even throwing a fit about it? And if they don’t tag their work, just let them know without acting like a high-school bully. I’m just tired, man. Creating used to be about having fun, not trying to make sure your content is appropriate enough to avoid getting dogpiled. I feel especially bad for young creators just starting out in fandom spaces :(

Hi I’ve been thinking about this for a few weeks since getting fully back into the Re fandom and Chrisker and thought you’d understand the most about what I’m about to talk aboutBut serious what the actual hell is up with the Re fandom, specially twitter and the ship fights and discourse? The whole Wesker fans Vs Ada fans that is apparently a thing? The whole “you can’t ship Weskertine because it makes you sexist and a woman hater”, the whole you can’t ship Rebecca with anyone cause she was 18 in the first game (even though she’s like canonically in her 40s now) !! I’ve noticed the Ada stans are especially angry all the time and anyone who dosent think she’s a perfect Angel get blasted to hell and back (she’s cool but she’s like a morally grey mercenary character people are allowed to talk about bad stuff she’s done sometimes, like the whole jake and sherry thing, personally I think it’s re 2 and 4 remake newbie fans woobifying her but that’s just a theory I dunno) Sorry this is all just coming from the fact I can’t go into the Chrisker tag on Twitter without seeing arguments and discourse on the daily and it’s annoying me and I’d like to hear someone’s thoughts on it and I know you’re cool, sorry for the vent I legitimately didn’t know who to talk to about thisI’ve been in this fandom 13 years and it’s never been like this I just want to know what friggin changed??Hope you’re having a good day atleast, it’s nice to see a happy re fan with fun takes like you around I enjoy your posts thank you
