I really appreciate you posting that, about the whole ‘family coded’ sort of thing, because I completely relate, especially with siblings. The idea of two people, who weren’t raised together, feeling like siblings is something that I can accept exists for people, and is just outside of my realm of experience… but in the world of fiction, I just can’t read that into a relationship. If you show me two characters who best pals, supportive and loving to each other, that’s never going to read as siblings or cousins to me, that’s my experience of romantic affection.
