You know, if they really cared about rpf of minors on platforms, then maybe they should, idk, advocate to have fanfic be included with the visual representation law as well. Because you can’t get mad at AO3 for following US law to a T and not question why the US law has made visual CSEM/CSAM illegal(of real breathing minors), but didn’t include the text form of that as well. Just saying, AO3 isn’t the flawed one here for being within it’s country of origins law, look at the country of origin itself for not thinking this through. But you know what they say, just because it’s the law, doesn’t mean it’s always right. Which is what you told them, but they didn’t listen.
Why get into the serious world of political advocacy when what you really want is an excuse to be mean and nasty to people online?
So I’m not really that into rpf, so I don’t particularly read it, but I have an inkling of a suspicion that the reason that pictures/videos of real living children are illegal is because you have to physically be there, abusing a child to make them, and written rpf about child actors or whatever isn’t illegal is because the person writing it is probably sitting in their room at a desk or something 1000 miles away & has never met this child in their life.
So I can see why priorities might point to real pictures of csam would be the thing that’s illegal.
Idk maybe that’s just me tho?
This is it exactly.
