how do you define pro-ship? I used to consider myself anti-ship, now completely disillusioned with shipcourse labels because of how vague and yet somehow simultaneously polarizing they are, and my stance is that even though I REALLY don’t like that there’s media glorifying/romanticizing abuse of any kind out there, there’s no practical way to actually delete all of it, and it’s best that there’s a place like ao3 where people can write anything that doesn’t break copyright law and tag it accordingly so people don’t have to see it. if mods everywhere just outright banned abuse material or age gap stuff or whatever, writers who were really determined to publish it would sneak it in without any warnings or tags. and besides, what causes me personally to feel disgust and what is actually harmful are not 1:1 perfectly congruent. that venn diagram is not a circle.anyway, all this to say, what would this make me by your definition? I still block the hell out of anyone who ships invest or anything that doesn’t pass the harkness test, but I believe harassment is useless and shitty.
A lot of what you’ve said is stuff I agree with! Like, harassment is useless and shitty, what disgusts you is not necessarily harmful, and there’s no practical way to prevent fiction that you feel romanticizes various form of abuse from existing. The biggest differences is me filtering tags for adult x minor ships and you outright blocking incest shippers, which you have every right to do and I’d even encourage it if incest shipping bothers you that much. So, as far as I and many proshippers would be concerned, your views align with proship beliefs!
I do wanna mention tho that you do not have to call yourself anything if you don’t want to. It’s up to you if you even want to continue being involved in shipcourse.
