Documenting our journey with tumblr support after our wrongful termination
I have realized that it may be helpful to the community to document my journey of finding out what happened to our blog, and hopefully restoring it!
Please note:
I believe our blog to have been wrongfully terminated via automation by malicious users falsely reporting our blog and/or posts. We do not post or interact with anything that could be considered pornographic images, we do not interact with lolisho style artwork or blogs, we do not post erotic writing that is against the TOS. I frankly flatly do not believe there’s any element of the tumblr terms of service that we could be genuinely reported for.
The beginning: (May 4, 2023)
I rolled over in bed this morning and opened tumblr to check my activity as usual. I discovered tumblr mobile was having trouble loading and refusing to serve me any information or images that weren’t saved in the mobile app’s cache.
Thanks to the experiences of other tumblr users I realized almost immediately that this meant our blog had been “tos’d” or “termed”– removed for breaking the tumblr TOS.
I logged out on mobile and was unable to log back in. It claimed I didn’t have an account. This confirmed my suspicion.
Desktop:
After breakfast I logged into tumblr on desktop and attempted to log into our account. This time, it did allow me to log in and showed me a screen that said my account had been terminated, and said that if I wanted to know more I should contact support.
I clicked the contact support link, which brought me to a support request form, which I filled out. This was around 7:30 am EST– it is 7 hours later at time of writing.
Unlike usual when I submit a report, I did not (have not yet) received an email indicating that my ticket was received.
Prior experience:
six months prior to this, I had another account which was temporarily and wrongfully automatically shadowbanned. It took a month from the time of the occurrence to have my account restored, during which time I submitted several report tickets.
