it would be the same source, yes! essentially he’s hard crushing on memories and needs an outlet for it. which we’re encouraging! he just gets nervous about terminology. and thank you for taking the time to answer, we really appreciate it!
Thank you for clarifying!
Your system member can (and should, if he wants to) absolutely call his crush from his source his F/O and treat them like an F/O in the community. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that and it can be really cathartic!
However, make sure your system member treads carefully and takes care of his own feelings. Pining for someone from a source who is no longer there with you can absolutely be healthy, and the F/O community can be a healthy outlet for those feelings– but it can also easily sometimes become extremely emotionally raw and lead to a lot of feelings of angst, regret, etc.
It’s great if F/O posting helps your system member work through those feelings– it’s not so good if it ends up keeping him trapped and spiraling into grief and loss. I am not AT ALL saying that will happen, but just to keep a look out and make sure that F/O posting is making your system member feel mostly good instead of mostly bad.
The F/O community, as a plural person, can occasionally also be frustrating if you end up feeling like everyone else is playing dolls, and you’re over here in the corner having what you consider more serious feelings. Take care not to become hostile to others in the community who have a different (and entirely fictional) relationship to the characters they F/O.
If your system member does end up feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, or upset by the F/O community, or just plain needs another outlet for his feelings, I also recommend some other ways to interact with those feelings of love and longing for his crush.
It’s always okay to post gush posts, and memories about people you miss in fictive and fictionkin tags.
Equally, you can write those memories or desires down as fiction, and post them as fanfiction!
F/O posts, fanfiction, and writing about fictive feelings from your own perspective are all great, valid and wonderful ways to access and interact with these feelings.
I hope your system member has a great time in the F/O community!
