My little’s in a bit of a doozy, thought as a fellow system you might have some advice. He’s started to F/O his crush. as he is a fictive, that makes them both Fictional Characters, but the crush would be Real/Fact for him specifically, so he’s not actually sure if F/O is the right terminology. the crush does not exist within our system, nor do we know anyone with that introject. i’ve tried to tell him “you can do whatever you want forever” but he’s still nervous. thoughts?

So, let’s see– you said that the F/O (we’ll use that term for now) does not exist in your system, and you don’t personally know anyone with that character in their system.
BUT you said that the crush would be real/fact for him– am I correct in assuming that the F/O and your system member are from the same source?
Or are they from a different fictional source than your system member?
If they are from a different fictional source than your system member, then your system member crushing on them is absolutely no different than anyone else having an F/O, and they can, as you said “do what they want, forever” without having to worry about it.
My advice is mostly the same even if the system member and F/O are from the same source, but I will have some additional advice if that’s the case, so please send a follow up ask when you can with this info!
