Hey anon. Hugs if you want them. I can tell you’re not having a good time right now.

We can relate to your system member feeling out of place in this world– we do too. That’s why we consider ourselves fictionkin– we believe that we were all from worlds other than this one before we got here.

And you’re right, it’s scary sometimes to be an us, instead of a “me”. We had one system member who was mostly in charge of the front for many years, and who considered himself the “original” and had a hard time letting go and letting other people front and make decisions. Sometimes he still does.

But no matter how many of you are there you are each still a “me” to yourself.

And being plural can be scary but there are good parts, too, the more you rely on and communicate with one another.

For us, its so wonderful to be able to take a break when we’re fatigued at the front and let someone else deal with “irl” front facing life while we do our own thing in the back.

It’s nice to be able to ask the system members with the best people skills to take care of people business and the system members with the best technology skills to take care of the technology, etc.

It takes work, but you’ll get there, if you keep trying.

Our system has been aware of one another to some degree since we were about 10 years old– more than 25 years ago. And we’re still just “getting the hang of it” in some ways.

But things are better than they’ve ever been for us, and I know you’ll get there too.

It’s hard because every system IS different, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t learn from the experiences of other systems. If you have more or deeper questions, we’d be happy to help by sharing our experiences too <3
