Gay or not gay people above the age of 19 writing/writing smut about teenagers is weird and creepy.

When you become an adult you don’t forget what it was like to be young, but you do have a lot more insight that makes for better writing. Are we no longer allowed to read and write about being that age? Are we also supposed to wipe our memories of being that age? If that is the case then there would be no classic coming-of-age stories. And more often than not, sexuality and early sexual experiences are part of that because they are just a natural part of life.

You do not magically ever feel different and adult as you age. There will come a day that you realize “damn, I’m fucking old,” but you still never quite feel adult. Because time just goes on. You just keep being and being and being. If you stay alive, the sexual experiences of a teenager become the sexual experiences of an adult. You reflect and reminisce and wonder “what if” and sometimes you escape from the complexity of the real world by creating and enjoying fiction. Sometimes this includes smut.

It can be far more interesting to delve into the inner workings of a teenage character because you remember how heightened everything was when you were that age. That’s just the simple truth. Sometimes I don’t want to read a forbidden office romance—I want to read about a teenager dealing with their sexual identity and getting to have experiences I didn’t as a teenager. Because I was so freaking repressed. It helps heal my past self to read about other teenagers who went through what I went through but get to have what I wouldn’t allow myself. It helps me to write about it through the lens of a fictional character, so I can distance myself just enough to articulate those raw feelings.

None of this is worth vilifying. It is not harming anyone. Writing smut that involves teenagers is not indicative of someone wanting to be sexual with minors. It is about the freedom of imagination and the universality of fiction. Through fiction people get to experience life in a safe, controlled way—and who better to write about an experience than someone who has lived it and reflected upon it?

What your saying is completely different, I don’t think FULL GROWN ADULTS should be writing about 15 year olds having sex, I think it can be heavily implied and talked about but writing full on smut about minors as a 25 year old is creepy. You can still write a coming of age piece without it having to be extremely explicit.

Um my dude. You have literally liked the post I made where I linked my very explicit Byler fanfics AND followed me even though in my bio I say that I’m 22 and that my blog is 18+. You know. The literal demographic that you’re saying are gross and creepy.

If you’re going to try to stand on some moral high ground, first try to not be so blatantly hypocritical.
