So much horror/crime/etc media is like “what if someone who has been repeatedly harmed in horrific unspeakable ways when they couldn’t defend themself got super fucked up and started lashing out at just whoever” and I’m like. It’d be kind of a slay tbh… oh that was supposed to be scary
Seeing this post going around again just as I’ve been thinking about this and it’s really wild, like, the amount of horror/crime/etc Fiction ! that’s trying to demonize (checks notes) abuse victims? Usually children, sometimes women?? And then you get people talking about how it’s problematic or something for Abused Character to ever fight back & to some degree yeah the way it’s presented is usually fucking weird but Personally I love revenge. Every time Abused Character just goes fucking ape shit biting people’s heads off I start clapping and cheering for them
