Something woke Apollo in the middle of the night. Half asleep, he saw his bed partner tossing and turning, mumbling under his breath, beautiful face contorted in a pained grimace as he clutched the sheets.
Kristoph Gavin’s blond hair was plastered across his face, jaw tight, and Apollo heard him make a low keening sound.
Apollo didn’t think, he just grabbed Kristoph in his arms, and gently shook him. “Sir– Mr. Gavin, please wake up.”
Kristoph took a shuddering breath as his eyes snapped open, and he pulled Apollo tighter in his arms. Apollo felt damp tears on his shoulder.
Apollo carefully smoothed Kristoph’s hair and held him while he shook and composed himself.
“It’s alright,” Apollo murmured. “I don’t know what you were dreaming about, but it was just a nightmare. It wasn’t real.”
Apollo could feel his carefully manicured nails digging into his back, from his boss’ tension but he didn’t mind. Apollo knew what nightmares were like. He knew what it felt like to wake up like this.
He was glad that he could be there.
“I’m sorry, Justice,” Kristoph murmured, wiping his eyes. “Sorry to make you see me like this.”
“I promise I don’t mind.”
