about a little over two weeks ago, I had an anti dm me which lead down the path of arguing, and they accused me of making problematic shipping “my entire personality”.
I told them that I actually had very few problematic ships and that I’m not that big of a shipper in general, and after that they told me to tell them what said problematic ships I had were. I told them no, and they kept asking me over and over, demanding this information and trying to lure an answer out of me, but I strictly kept saying no every time.
eventually, they got pissed off and just ended up blocking me because I refused to tell them this information. it really blew my mind because it seems this person genuinely thought they were entitled to know the things I read about privately in the comfortable of my own home.
so, let me remind you assholes:
someone’s preferences in fiction arenot your goddamn business.
some people like being open about what they read and ship… and that’s great! but nobody owes you this information. I really feel like you all need to relearn that wanting privacy does not mean that you’re doing something wrong or have something to hide.
if someone told you to go downstairs and tell your parents about all the gay fanfics you read online, you wouldn’t. because it’s not any of their business, nor should it be. same thing applies to strangers on the internet. I don’t fucking know you. I’ve been talking to you for 10 minutes. it’s not my job to list off all the things I like, enjoy, can tolerate, or am aroused by in fiction for you.
