Alright, here’s a weird thing I do. I like watching ecchi anime and anime that has groping/sexual harassment in it played as a joke/humor because it helps me cope with my sexual trauma and CSA. I was brutally sa’d as a child but you wouldn’t know that when my favorite anime are dragon maid and no game no life. It distracts me from my pain because it’s played for humor. Some people prefer it to be played realistically but I like it when it’s cartoony, fun, and harmless.

earlier there was a post that had someone talking about the “male organ” being out and everywhere in japan first of all, nice casual transphobia there, anon, lmao but also, like. dick festival aside, i honestly think america’s attitude towards genitalia is the unhealthy one, globally. like, in europe, there’s statues everywhere in various states of undress, not to mention museums containing art depicting sexuality and nudity. these are closed and controlled environments (except maybe the penis festival given there are parades, but i haven’t researched that in any real depth yet) and i feel like that’s a much healthier and positive way to encounter nudity than to have it foisted upon you in a more graphic form or in a very sanitized diagram in a textbook, both of which might turn off someone sensitive to it to the point of fear or disgust— it certainly did for me when i was young. i feel like if i had had a much more positive environment regarding sex, the body, and such growing up, it would have spared me a lot of shame, pain, and trauma. and even then, if we didn’t act like artwork showing genitalia or bare breasts was some kind of moral plague, i probably would have had a much healthier relationship with sexuality. i do not exaggerate when i said it would have spared me a lot of pain! while obviously i feel like some discretion is needed, i wish we had a more similar attitude to the rest of the world. it isn’t shameful or dirty to have ANY genitals, honestly. if you aren’t personally comfortable with seeing dicks or whatever, that’s okay, but saying that ANY instance of genitals of any sort being visible is inherently disgusting and gross is just trying to find a more socially acceptable body shaming.

what are your thoughts on headcanoning (is that even a verb,,) characters as identities that you arent? i remember when i was in the mha fandom and i mentioned how i had a transfem shoto headcanon, and was told that because i wasnt transfem i cant do that. i have mixed feelings on the topic, personally. as a proshipper i do believe that anyone can make any fiction they want (and that it doesnt reflect their morals), but i also think we should analyze fiction and how it reflects real life and politics.its a topic that a lot of people (especially antis on tiktok :eyeroll:) are pretty passionate about and id like to hear your thoughts! /gen

absolutely wildest thing i’ve seen from an anti was on twitter. this one user made a post about how it’s good to make self-insert fanart to have fun with fictional characters. an anti quote-tweeted them saying some shit like “you mean like the type of ‘fun’ you have with your husbando [comfort character]?!” (the comfort character is a minor, the user is in their early 30s). i have no idea how this anti looked at the obviously non-romantic attachment they had to this character and thought “husbando”.

I don’t know how there can be antis in the Trigun fandom Trigun is really old, it dates back to the late 90’s. The most popular ship back then AND now that we’ve gotten some sort of modern prequel to the 98 anime is plantcest (incest, they’re brothers but also an alien but human looking race called plants. The older twin brother has a serious brother complex) We also have a character who is literally an aged up minor. LITERALLY! He and another child were part of an experiment that sped up their metabolism. And this character gets shipped (by ANTIS ironically) with one of the brothers who is at least 150+ years old Then we have another character who looks really young and even fools our heroes by acting like a kid but they’re actually a monster and they chose their youthful look. And we also have the director of Trigun stampede and the manga artist. Both are active on twitter. If you check their likes, they’re both into plantcest. The manga artist also retweeted that Japanese info post which called antis “feelings Yakuza” Antis are consuming media produced by someone who is against them and who put subtle hints of an incestous relationship into his work and they’re not critical about the media they consume but they’re loud about criticizing who does what in their free time

I don’t even read AO3 works because even if it doesn’t contain any drawn images I could still get arrested even though it’s a written work. I wish antis would learn that laws don’t equate to morality. Like that example you just posted, an irl 16 year old and their dad might be legal there, but I think most people would see it as morally wrong. Though, they also need to learn that fiction and reality are different. It is morally wrong because it’s a real minor being exploited, not a fictional character.

No but the anti/TERF connection is real. My theory is that queer youth have been pulled in via Youtube commentary channels particularly in the art community. Those communities have had numerous scandals around lolcow.farm being a common source for gossip material to create something out of nothing for views. I know this convo was a couple days ago, but I saw it later so I want to voice in regards to the writers telling fans not to create nsfw of their works: I for one would consider myself to be at the top of my life as an artist and writer if people ended up drawing and writing porn of my characters. If you wouldn’t mind maybe passing this on, Blackheart? For Black Butler anon – I feel your pain! This is hard fandom to be in nowadays. Especially if you (god forbid) ship the main problematic pairing, my ever enduring favorite Sebaciel. There’s a lot of rabid antis in this fandom and it can be difficult to realize that something you treasure as a longtime comfort media is something some people are apparently willing to threaten you over. You’re definitely not alone – these are compelling characters and tons of people are able to enjoy them just as they are, because its fun! They’re interesting and evil and fun! I promise that its not a moral failing to like them. Hang in there. Just so you know, there is still a pro-ship community for this fandom and we do have fun! There’s a few communities floating around (including @kuroshipsujidiscord- though it is specifically 18+). I will say that a lot of folks I know will check who follows them and block if you’re reblogging from some of the well-known fantis, but if you’re up for it, you could always create a sideblog or new account – or even just reach out – I still love this fandom and there are a lot of genuinely sweet people in it who would love to share the brainrot with you. Can I like vent about pro self shipping cause I’m scrolling through your posts, I’ve been brain rotting about Black butler and I kinda just wanna let my thoughts out in a safe place (if this gets long or annoying feel free to delete, sorry!) I didn’t know about pro shippers or antis at all until i get into the self shipping space and I’m glad I did get into that space for the most part. But I’m gonna be 18 this year (in December) and besides having anxieties about becoming an adult now I’m also having anxieties about how it’s gonna affect my life in fandom. I’m a pretty socially anxious person I don’t have many friends as is but there’s this nagging in my head that the dang day I turn 18 someone’s gonna see the minors in my F/O list and I’m gonna be mauled. Or they’ll see me liking pro proship posts and THEN I’ll get mauled. Probably both of them won’t happen I realize but I’m still nervous. I remember seeing “pro ship dni” and going “Okay! I don’t know what this but whatever!” Dude I’m mutuals with so many people with that in their blog and now I feel like I really should just become an eternal lurker. As I read proship posts and stuff I find myself mostly agreeing I kinda identify mostly as a proshipper (not publicly though) like I have a pretty big crush on Ciel Phantomhive and Alois Trancy and even though I age them up in my head I still find myself feeling bad, I don’t think I should though! I think purity “non problematic” culture in fiction is mostly stupid and I want to purge it from my brain as much as possible. That was literally just me dumping my thoughts sorry if it was kinda vapid at the end lmao

I used to feel comfortable to the proship label but it feel like it’s shifting as other opinions of the people hold the label are getting louder I feel like there was a peace time free from infighting and that was enjoyable but now there are people going round “don’t feel safe with people” I know I’m an adult but I still feel unsafe a lot of the time and it’s been a community I’ve grown attached to, I feeling alienated from fandom even the art freedom fandom and maybe I won’t every belong anywhere or maybe I should sleep and I’ll feel better in the morning I just wanna be weird and to be something else not a human. Self-awareness and humility can go a long way in fandom. Two things that antis do not have, but two things proshippers have. I have enough self-awareness to say, “I’m not into fictional incest, but I know that selfcest is just as weird if not weirder and real life incest is worse than fictional incest.” By the end of the day, everyone has a weird kink or two and everyone has boundaries when it comes to fetishes. So when I see an anti shame someone for being into incest ships but then they also ship something that is way worse than the person they are targeting or selfship with a villain, it further makes me more disappointed by antis being hypocritical. Worst part is that patterns like that keep happening with antis.

So I’ve been rereading this manga called “Erased” and I realized something. Antis would hate this series. Why? Spoiler warning and tw warning for lolicon and csa: Because the canon lolicon with a school girl uniform fetish didn’t commit child murder. But the elementary school teacher, someone you would trust around kids, did commit child murder. The lolicon likes to help socially inept kids and is a saint. The teacher got into child murder after killing his older brother. Who bribed him into luring his classmates over to be molested by said older brother. It’s almost as if the story is portraying the harsh reality that the “perverts” are less likely to commit a crime. But more so the person you trust the most is.
