Hi, can you explain something for me? I thought being an anti means intrinsically that you share the ideology that it’s ok to harass and shame and bully people over their ships or what they write in general. So why is this particular anti in your inbox a good thing? Or did they describe themselves as “anti (x ship or character)” which from my understanding just means more along the lines of “I don’t like this” rather than “an Anti”, capitalized pronoun in a way, which is the harassing etc ideology? I’m confused.
They described themselves as an anti because language is not clear and distinct, and the antiship side has distorted the meaning of proship and antiship so heavily that it can feel meaningless.
According to extremist antis, “proship” means to them someone who personally supports irl pedophilia, rape, incest etc, and loves to see these things in fiction.
Meanwhile according to us proshippers, “proship” means someone who believes that it’s okay to create any kind of fiction, and that what you like in fiction doesn’t have a bearing on what you like or do in real life.
So to you and me the “anti” in my inbox is actually a proshipper.
But I’ve been told its bad to force a label on someone who doesn’t want to use it.
So if they call themselves an anti, that’s how I’ll refer to them.
