What I learned about antis ever since I entered fandom culture as an adult: some antis act entitled, some have the worst double standards, some are hypocrites, some are toxic (obviously), some victim blame real life victims, anti shipping is basically purity culture with extra steps, anti shipping is straight up condoning harassment towards someone because of what they consume in fiction, and of course, most antis are projecting their insecurities onto other proshippers.

Hey! I wanna give context about what the one user talking about the Straight Boyz MAP! (and then used the insult crumbbrained). (Background for those unaware:) Multiple Animator Projects are a popular form of content on YouTube, especially in the warrior cats fandom! Anywhere from 10 to upwards of 100 people come together to animate characters to a video, usually to a song. This video was about an edgy warrior cats ship to the song Straight Boyz, a vulgar song about gay sex. The video itself at worst showed two emo cats kissing with tongue, one being pinned down by the other, a cat standing on hind legs to air hump, and one animator drew a cat with fur that mimicked anime boobs. And at the start of the video were warnings about the contents. Antis blew up calling it disgusting, demanding it be taken down, claiming the video was zoophilia porn, and that it was exposing minors to traumatic things. I also want to mention that due to the nature of the warrior cat books having a lot of blood thirsty villains and battles, there are a lot of popular MAPs that show cats killing each other, dying in gruesome ways, and carnage. Sometimes without any warnings. And no complaints in sight.

Time for a funny! Woke up today to a new ask message. Strange thing for me as I’m quite a small blog and wasn’t on the day before to reblog any ask games. Turns out it’s an artist who’s work I’d reblogged, demanding I delete my reblog because their art wasn’t for proshippers and “so it’s not for people like you.” because that’s a totes normal thing to say to a stranger! Anyway! I replied privately and pointed out they could just… block me? Get back another ask ‘I’m not blocking you until you delete it!’ So I pointed out that when you post art publicly (especially with no DNI on the post, which there wasn’t!) you can’t control who interacts with it and if people you don’t like interact, you can just block them! Sent that reply privately, blocked the blog, and then deleted the art. Not because they asked me to, but because I don’t wanna be showcasing the art of anyone like that. Anyway, that was my morning, and I’m still giggling over “You have to delete your reblog of my art, it’s not for people like you!” (p.s. if you don’t want people reblogging your art and tagging it as ship, maybe don’t draw sisters in traditionally romantic angst poses?) -💚🪷🌞🌿🥈

I remember being a child, laying in bed at night, having all these dark fantasies about fiction, no one had told me or conditioned me to be like that, its just how I am. I remember wondering if it was just me, or if I was just uniquely weird. I can’t imagine how upset I would be if I found antiship when I was little, I would probably have fallen for it and gone through childhood thinking I was evil and should die. I was already called weird and not right constantly by people in my life.

Ugh that screenshot of that one anti just infuriates me… “how proship is related to TERF” my god. Just tell me you don’t know what any of those words mean and you think TERF is just shorthand for “person I don’t like”. Radical feminism is explicitly anti-porn, anti-kink, and anti-sex worker, and the arguments that they use are exactly the shit that antis preach about fictional characters because they’re the same arguments. TERFs (and religious anti-porn organizations) have openly stated, repeatedly, that fandom shipping wars are easy hunting ground for new recruits because its easy to get them to swallow those talking points specifically. Its literally part of the fucking radfem pipeline. They don’t even hide it. As a kinky nb transmasc with problematic ships its just not that fucking hard to see how all of those attitudes are related. I’m so sorry for ranting in your inbox. I’m just… tired. I’m so so tired. There are a lot of age-gap ships that I only ship BECAUSE of the age gap. Case in point: Sonic and Amy. If it weren’t for the fact that Sonic is 16 and Amy is 12, I would probably not like the ship nearly as much.

Like, I honestly hope these small creators know that if they’re known for going into fandom and squicking themselves out on works about their stuff they are opening themselves up to lawsuits in the future if their stuff goes big. Literally as a creator you *must* stay out of fandom. You *cannot* use ideas you have seen in fiction relating to your works without the possibility of lawsuit. Your only recourse is to take a hard stance to *never* engage with the fandom surrounding your works, lest it come to bite you later.

I feel like anyone who posts suibait in a publically accessable place (and I do include tags here) is participating in the laziest form of eugenics possible against people who struggle with mental health. In regards to moderation with Toyhouse, the exception seems to be if you have a shit ton of links and proof in the report, it took less than 1 day for a report i made to be sorted, (it was a total of 56 uncredited reposted bases that I found and linked back the the original artists) I’m just saying this so others know to be cautious since they can take action quickly when they feel like it. Though I’m definitely questioning how they choose which reports to deal with considering others have complained their reports have been ignored for months.

It’s always weird to me. Like. I was exploited for years. From a really little age to well into my preteens by the same guys for literal years. I see antis really frequently equate what happened to me with what’s being done to someone who isn’t even a “someone.” They’re pixels, or lines, or paint strokes. It’s always been so weird. I used to be mad about it. I think I’ve grown comfortably numb. I just can’t be bothered to try anymore in regards to it all. They don’t care. They just want something to hold up and go “look, I’m right! I’m protecting these people, it makes me right!” But they aren’t right, and I never asked for their help. They’re white knights, but instead of trying to court “female approval,” they’re cultivating a culture which allows them to trample whoever they don’t like on the grounds of “moral superiority.”

the post about ‘toxic relationships in fiction =/= proshipping’ infuriated me because it’s so elitist and weird to assume the intentions of fan creators to be uniquely sordid whereas published authors get to write about anything. there are decades worth of scholarship for horror fiction alone pointing out its tendencies to sexually titillate as well as frighten. all I would like as a fan is to be approached with the same level of maturity and good faith as any professionally published artist, and that includes the sexual element of my art.

Here’s my views on fiction and shipping: sometimes yeah, certain ships are things I fantasize about that I do want in real life, like friends to lovers, having a partner who is nurturing, having a partner who always checks on you during sex to make sure they’re not hurting you or if you want to withdraw from it, having a partner that doesn’t judge you for your kinks, being a dominant or submissive (I’m a switch) for any character I like, I could go on. Other times however, when I ship things like enemies to lovers, shipping a hero with a villain (like a Batman and Catwoman dynamic), a ship involving one of the characters in the ship being a psychopath, Yanderes, super aloof characters in a ship, it’s because I like it more in fiction, because if I tried to translate that into reality, it would be an absolute nightmare. So when I do consume fanfics, there’s sometimes truths in my tastes, but not always. I hope this makes sense, because I’m not too sure on how I explained this! 😅

Seeing the DBZ post gave me a flashback to when an anti harassed me for a headcanon. What was the headcanon? Aroace Goku. What reason did they have to harass me besides being an exclusionist? They self-shipped with Goku, therefore I offended them. I’m not joking about that last part, a personal headcanon that didn’t get in the way of their self-shipping, offended them. They felt justified to harass me and belittle my identity over a headcanon that had nothing to do with them.

I’m having a serious case of the vapors right now about an instructional manual about how to use toxic relationships to add drama to a story but “not in a proship way. ” its sooo good. (by which I mean batshit.) making a relationship toxic in your story is not proshipping, it’s in-depth storytelling. -true obviously, especially because proshipping isn’t a word.  don’t actively ship it, don’t think it’s okay, just use that relationship to add to your story -because the reader will be a mind reader and understand the pure intent of the writer they’re your characters and you can do what you want with them, as long as you agree that what happened to them is wrong and don’t glorify it then dude you’re good -actions don’t matter, only being a good person in my original characters’ story, there are some extremely toxic relationships, not just romantic but platonic as well and that’s okay to put in my story because I don’t say “aww they’re so cute together,” I say “I want to give (victim) all the hugs and happiness and kick (abuser) in the fucking face” -in this essay I will explain why my problematic fiction is not actually problematic because I personally am not a problem  I don’t glorify those relationships, I use them to add depth to characters and build conflicts – they’re part of the story, and just because there’s an unhealthy relationship does not make your book a fetishization of abuse. there’s a very big difference between the two. -clearly (deep sarcasm) “To all of the baby writers – if you want a toxic relationship as a part of your story, as a conflict in your plot, just remember that difference.”  -following these instructions, I accidentally microwaved my phone “so, proship dni, obviously” -snrk “Long story short, write what you want.” -wait, is this an anti blog or a proship blog?  The writer of Silence of the Lambs doesn’t support c4nnibalism, the writer of Chains doesn’t support sl4very/r4cism, the writer of Lolita doesn’t support p3doph1lia, the writer of Boy in the Striped Pajamas isn’t a n4zi, the writer of Holes doesn’t support child l4bor, and I (the writer of my book) don’t support manipulation. I literally just had a conversation with someone about being unable to control how people take things you create. I was worried I’d been hurtful without meaning to. She told me that she could see what I meant, how I was worried it would be taken, and how she took it, all at once, and that all three were different. And that that is the nature of consuming media. sorry for charging right back in “and another thing!” style but uh. honestly i miss when character ages were interesting little factoids and not a determination of what’s “allowed” to exist concerning them. and i hate how as a result character ages are getting shoehorned in where they don’t belong. like, even as a little kid, i have never once thought of my pokemon player character as anything but my own age. i started playing well before i was ten, and i just pretended i was given special permission or whatever. and i’ve always done that. and it snaps me out of the narrative so fast when the games have an obligatory moment where an npc drills it into your head that you’re eleven or ten or whatever. the only times i don’t think of the character as my own age is when the player character turns more into an oc than a self-insert, in which case they receive a set age, usually over 18 for my own personal comfort. i have issues about being mistaken for a child irl, so perhaps i’m just oversensitive about it. but we always have seen trainers of all types, of all appearances, of all walks of life. and i really wish they’d drop the “you ARE eleven because i said so” stuff. i’m an adult and so are my friends and if i want to kiss the enemy leader i am allowed. let me have this game freak. :c (this argument isn’t all about self-ship or shipping, but i have seen too much stupid shipping discourse in pokemon for it to have nothing to do with it lmao) like, if you want to think of them as ten because tradition, or as a kid because you’re a kid or on a nostalgia trip, sure! that’s fine! whatever reason you have is fine! but i’m just. so tired, man. i’m fuckin tired!

I’ve always been so confused by people being squicked out about someone calling an underaged character hot when the character isn’t drawn in a way that make them look like a child. Like I think Yusuke Urameshi from Yu Yu Hakusho is crazy hot and regularly forget that he’s canonly 14 because 14 year olds don’t have fucking abs like that.

I saw an anti in the CLAMP fandom and I’m just… Ah yes, CLAMP, the mangaka group known for such works as Card Captor Sakura, which has a relationship between a teacher and elementary school student, plus a healthy dose of cousins crushing on each other. Or Tokyo Babylon, which heavily focuses on another age gap relationship but this time with a lot more violence and a very strongly implied instance of mother/son incest. Or Clover where a character claims to sleep with the severed arm of the man he’s obsessed with and is probably stalking. Like I could go on and on, CLAMP loves their problematic content, it’s like their staple, so why would an anti want anything to do with this fandom at all? Yeah of course the ships are problematic, what did they expect?

Please only post of on anon. Toyhouse is almost certainly run by antis. At the very least the majority of the users are antis. The site as a whole is super cliquey and people will block you for having ‘low quality art’ or art style and designs that the popular members don’t like. There’s a toyhouse drama blog on here that posted about how adults who have ‘bad art’ or cute art styles shouldn’t part take in NSFW art games because “it feels like a kid is drawing for me.” People who have NSFW content at all are more likely to get blocked and outlasted. But overall the site is so petty and the user base is so unfriendly to artists who they don’t think are talented enough. The anti thing is just one more reason. I left the site because of the cliques.

Hi, I don’t know if you’re part of the creepypasta fandom, but I have a dilemma. I’m trying to enter into the fandom and learn more about it, but it’s crawling with anti’s. I’m so intimidated, and I really want to find some blogs to follow, but I can’t tell if anyone is an anti, cause so many of the blogs don’t say.
