What do you think about anti ? Like if ship is named AB, having half of fandom be pro-AB and half anti-AB (in case it’s unclear what I’m aiming at). It’s just so ironic to me since most of times I’ve seen such rhetoric it was about completely mundane ships, usually without any serious ‘dark’ themes. Plus antis would go ahead and write 1k rants about how immoral ship is and how it shippers are . And on other hand you’d have pro-AB who belives their ship is epitome of romance and truly doesn’t see realistic picture and that no ship should be romance 101 guide. And so sides fight, while using completely black/white thinking I wish we could return to terms like OTP and NOTP (and many others like SALS and kink tomato) instead of those unneeded callouts on morality and someone’s personality/intelligence over whether two fictional characters should kiss or not…
Exactly, the problem is that people who hate things have learned that they can co-opt the language of morality and progressive politics in order to control people through shame.
People might not listen to “you can’t ship that because I don’t like it” but they might listen to “you can’t ship it because its immoral.”
There are always going to be ships and characters people hate.
There are ships and characters WE hate.
and we mind our own damned business and don’t go around harassing people about it.
