Western society is culturally christian, and america specifically is heavily influenced by puritanical ideas.

Military, police, punishment for crime, hell for sin = good

sex and enjoying our bodies and spreading erotic love = bad

Does your F/O know all the messy, dark, “undesirable” parts of what makes you who you are? Do you know theirs? If so, what was the aftermath of its revelation?

I think knowing and accepting the messy parts of a person is what makes a relationship stronger. All of us know one another intimately, and know the kind of dark places we can all get to, and we accept them as part of who we are. I love all the darkest parts of my F/Os and they love me.
