If everyone who works at AO3 does that work without compensation who the fuck do they think should be combing through works.”The people who did this weren’t compensated for their time” No one is!!”Only paid specialists should be doing this”So you think their budget should be tens if not hundreds of thousands bigger, and in the mean time nothing should be done about it??If the answer to that is no, then what the fuck do you wanr, they didnt do The Best, but they are doing Their Best, and it is better than Nothing At All. Hopefully they improve in clarity and guidance for the volunteers and hopefully they give more support to those troubles by what they find, but god damn. This work is done for free. I think the wording of calling volunteer work “labor” isn’t optimal, but at the same time it should not be a volunteer’s job to comb for material that might include csem, nor did volunteers (not just Rahaeli) who stumbled upon such material receive any help from higher ups in the OTW (as in how to act and what to do in such a case)I also think people should realize that a volunteer based org is extremely slow, much much slower than any other org and that you can expect to wait for years to implement stuff like a blocking tool on the website (as an example)

I have to say I’m with you on what’s going on with ao3 being a coordinated attack. I am a regular on fail_fandomanon on dw and lord the number of upset anons on there under the ao3 thread. I’m half convinced they are all the same people just complaining to make themselves seem like the majority when they are just in fact a loud vocal minority intent on ruining ao3.

I have never met people as hostile to their own cause as the End OTW Racism crowd. Do you have questions about how their proposed solutions work? You’re pro-racist, you piece of shit. You want to know more proposed solutions beyond ‘hire staff to review things reported as racist’? That’s just what a racist would say.
